The third installment of the Mid-Summer Dream Intensive introduces participants to effortless breathing and the full use of one’s embodied Imagination. The two series presented here — the Rhythmical Breathing series and the Primary Image series — give students a sense of “mature” action, action open and responsive to the present moment. The breathing lessons leave us with a palpable sense of effortless breathing. We learn that when Feldenkrais repeatedly says “don’t breathe” he doesn’t mean to hold the breath, but rather he means for us to have the profound experience of breathing without the “breather.” It’s truly liberating. In the Primary Image series, Feldenkrais lays bare the dynamic essence of our self-image – the 5 Cardinal Line schema. Any real change in ourselves always clarifies and refines the Primary Image. And, as unencumbered breathing is a prerequisite to maintaining a stable Primary Image, the benefits of the breathing series are amplified. In addition, nine compelling lessons round out this ATM Intensive workshop. These lessons supplement and augment the two series by providing both breadth and depth to the learning experience. Carol and Dennis make the impossible, possible; the possible, easy; and the easy, beautiful.
